Mamey milk shake and smoothie
Mamey or sapote is Cubans' favorite milk shake or smoothie. The mamey fruit has a very unique flavor and a texture that is super creamy. That is why is so amazing for smoothies resulting in the most creamy, silky smootie. If you haven't tried it, please make sure you do for a totally amazing food experience.I get mine at the Hispanic markets but you can find it frozen as well in the frozen section. It is also super dense, and a little bit goes a long way so it lasts me for quite a few smoothies. Once it is ripe, I cut, peel and freeze mine to enjoy them multiple times.I am going to give you two recipes. The classic Cuban mamey milk shake and my version for a healthier recipe. Both super delicious.Ingredients: 4-5 personsThe classic Cuban 1/2 cup of frozen or fresh mamey5 cups of whole milk1/2 cup condensed milk or sugarIceAdd all ingredients to a blender and blend until well combined, checking if you need to add a little more milk. Serve cold and enjoy. My healthier version:Mamey is super sweet so I don't need to add any sugar to my smoothie. Also, it is so dense that even with a non-dairy milk you get a silky consistency. Add the mamey, low fat milk or almond milk, and ice to a the blender. Blend until all ingredients are well combined.EnjoyInalvys
